Assam News: Assam police have arrested a man for using artificial intelligence (AI) to create obscene videos and images of a woman and uploading them online for money. The arrest was made in Tinsukia district after a complaint was filed by the victim.
The accused, Pratim Bora, is a mechanical engineer. Police said he used one photo of the woman to generate multiple pornographic clips using AI software. These were later shared on social media and used to run a paid page online. He reportedly earned around Rs 10 lakh through subscriptions to the page.

The NDTV report cited Senior police officer Sizal Agarwal from Dibrugarh as confirming the arrest on Sunday. She said the case was filed after morphed images of the woman surfaced online with false claims that she had joined the adult film industry in the US.
“The content looked real, but it was entirely created using AI tools. The woman was being defamed by someone she once knew,” said Agarwal. The accused and the victim knew each other from the past and personal reasons appear to have led to the crime.
During a search, police recovered several electronic items, including laptops, mobile phones, hard drives, pen drives and SIM cards. Financial records, credit cards and bank documents were also seized.

Agarwal said the accused created the fake content, posted it online, and then made money by charging people to access it. “It began as harassment but later became a source of income for him,” she added.
At the moment, police believe Bora acted alone. However, they have not ruled out the involvement of others and said further investigation is ongoing.
The officer urged the public not to forward such content. “People should be more careful. These videos were not real. Now that it is known, no one should circulate them again,” she said.
