- BJP, RJD, Jan Suraj intensify Bankipur bypoll campaigns.
- BJP banks on traditional votes, RJD highlights local issues.
- Prashant Kishor emerges as third alternative option.
Bankipur Bypoll: With just few days remaining in the much-hyped Bankipur bypoll, all the major political parties have intensified their campaigns to lure the voters. While the senior leaders of BJP, including Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and national president Nitin Nabin participated in the campaign on Monday, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav also held a roadshow after returning from his foreign visit. Apart from this, Jan Suraj founder and contestant Prashant Kishor also intensified his efforts in the last phase of the campaign.
BJP Relies On Traditional Vote Bank
The BJP is relying on its traditional vote banks for the bypoll as the party has maintained its dominance here for the past several decades. Bankipur is being considered crucial for the ruling party as it was earlier represented by BJP chief Nitin Nabin. While the saffron party is relying on the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nitin Nabin, the RJD has raised the local issues like poor infrastructure.
Apart from this, Prashant Kishor has projected himself as the third option, urging the voters to give his newly formed party a chance. Earlier in the 2025 assembly polls, Jan Suraj failed to even open its account, with its vote share remaining below five per cent.
'Silent Anger' Against BJP?
As per the experts, the traditional voters of the saffron party are upset due to several factors, including the alleged extra judicial killing of Bharat Tiwari, a social activist, poor infrastructure and change of candidate. However, the party is confident that despite the temporary disagreements, the traditional voters will vote for the BJP candidate.
While the BJP is relying on its strong organisation, the RJD is betting on issues of change and social justice. Apart from this, Kishor has urged the voters to give a chance to the third alternative. The election on Bankipur seat will be held on July 30 and the results will be announced on August 3.
