Bathinda News: Liquor and meat shops will remain closed on November 20 in Bathinda for Guru Tegh Bahadur's Shobha Yatra.

In this regard, the additional district magistrate Poonam Singh has taken a major decision using the powers conferred under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023.

Orders have been issued to close liquor shops/slaughterhouses/meat shops and premises located on the route of the Shobha Yatra to be organised on November 20 to commemorate the 350th martyrdom day of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji.

According to the order issued, no person will be allowed to store or sell liquor on this occasion.

In another update, the Maharashtra Excise Department had also announced that Mumbai will observe three dry days in November. During this period, the sale and service of alcohol will be prohibited in the city.

The dry days in Mumbai have been scheduled to coincide with major religious and cultural observances throughout the month. So, if you are planning to host a party, dine out or catch up with friends over a drink, it's best to plan ahead.

Dry days were observed on November 1 and 5. The final dry day of the month is scheduled for Monday, November 24, in observance of Guru Tegh Bahadur Shaheedi Diwas, commemorating the martyrdom of the ninth Sikh Guru.
