The Calcutta High Court has invalidated the entire panel of the 2016 Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recruitment, along with appointments from 9th to 12th grades and groups C and D, where irregularities were detected. The court's directive mandates the administration to conduct fresh appointments within the next 15 days.

An exception has been made by the court for Soma Das, a cancer victim, whose job is deemed secure amidst the nullification of appointments. The Calcutta High Court's ruling comes as a response to irregularities found in the 2016 SSC recruitment process.

The division bench, comprising justices Debangsu Basak and Md Shabbar Rashidi ordered the cancellation of all appointments made through this process.

As per the court's directive, school teachers whose appointment has been rendered illegal would have to return the salaries earned by them over the last 7-8 years.
