Bengal Weather: According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Kolkata, thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rain activity is expected over the districts of North Bengal. Due to dry westerly wind in the lower levels hot and humid conditions are likely in some districts of south Bengal. Scattered rain is likely to occur in all the districts of South Bengal till Friday. However, the weather body has not issued an alert. Heavy rain is expected to hit Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar in North Bengal on Monday. Rain accompanied by thunder and lightning will be witnessed in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Cooch Behar, and North Dinajpur. A thunderstorm warning has been issued on Tuesday only in Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, and North Dinajpur. No other warning has been issued in the remaining districts of North Bengal. Even though the monsoon has struck North Bengal, it has not yet entered South Bengal. Temperature in both North and South Bengal is expected to rise. During the next 24 hours, temperature is expected to rise by two to four degrees.
“An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over east Bihar and neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level. A trough runs from east Uttar Pradesh to northeast Assam across central parts of Bihar, North Bengal and Sikkim and Assam at 0.9 km above mean sea level,” IMD Kolkata stated in its bulletin on Monday.
Forecast And Warning For South Bengal
June 2: Light to moderate rain/thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over all districts along with hot and humid weather very likely to prevail over Jhargram, Kolkata, Howrah, East and West Midnapore, North and South 24 Parganas districts of South Bengal. Thunderstorms with lightning with wind speed 30 to 40 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places over Birbhum, Murshidabad, Nadia, North and South 24 Parganas districts of South Bengal.
June 3: Light to moderate rain/thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over Jhargram, Nadia, Murshidabad, East and West Midnapore, North and South 24 Parganas districts along with hot and humid weather very likely to prevail over Jhargram, Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, East and West Midnapore, North and South 24 Parganas districts of South Bengal.
June 4: Light to moderate rain/thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over Murshidabad, Nadia and Birbhum districts and at one or two places over rest of the districts along with hot and humid weather very likely to prevail over Jhargram, Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, East and West Midnapore, North and South 24 Parganas districts of South Bengal.

June 2: Light to moderate rain/thundershower very likely at most places over Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar and Alipurduar districts; at many places over rest districts of North Bengal with heavy rainfall (07-11cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar districts. Thunderstorms with lightning wind speed 30 to 40 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places over all the districts of North Bengal.
June 3: Light to moderate rain/thundershower very likely at most places over Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar and Alipurduar districts; at many places over rest districts of North Bengal. Thunderstorms with lightning wind speed 30 to 40 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places over all the districts of North Bengal.
