Bengal Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Saturday that several districts in West Bengal will experience thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rainfall until May 21.
The IMD stated that South Bengal, which has been facing high daytime temperatures and heatwave conditions in some areas over the past few days, is expected to see a shift in weather due to the development of a trough stretching from northwest Uttar Pradesh to east Bangladesh, passing through Jharkhand and the Gangetic region of West Bengal.
Favourable wind patterns and moisture coming in from the Bay of Bengal are expected to trigger intensified thunderstorms with gusty winds and heavy rain in Purulia, Bankura, East and West Burdwan, Birbhum, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong districts. Other areas are likely to see light to moderate rainfall with gusty winds and thunderstorms until May 21, the IMD added.
