Bengaluru Business Corridor Update: The Karnataka government is reportedly preparing to invite the tenders worth Rs 7,000 crore by March 2026 for the much-awaited Bengaluru Business Corridor (BBC). Previously called the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR), the 73-kilometer-long project is being planned to reduce the traffic congestion and cut the travel time. While providing details, the authorities stated that the corridor is set to boost the regional connectivity and financial activities. They further stated that the project will be built in three phases, with each of them worth Rs 2,500 crore.
The authorities stated that the corridor is being developed by the Bengaluru Business Corridor Limited (BBCL), adding that it will be constructed to reduce the traffic congestion. They also stated that the corridor will connect several highways, including Tumakuru Road, Ballari Road, Old Madras Road, and Hosur Road. The officials also stated that the land acquisition for the first phase is in the final stage, adding that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is also being drawn up by a French firm, The Hindu reported.

The officials further stated that the tenders will be invited after almost 80 per cent of the acquisition process is completed, adding that almost three months would be required to finalise the contractors. They further stated that the selected agencies will get 30 months to complete the project after the allotment process. Earlier last month, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that several projects will be announced in the upcoming months to boost the connectivity.
However, several farmers and labour groups staged protests against the corridor by stating that the government was not offering enough compensation for the land acquisition process. However, the officials stated that the concerned authorities are in touch with the farmers to resolve the issue and arrive at a conclusion.
