Bengaluru Expressway Connecting Banashankari to NICE Road will reduce traffic congestion on the roads leading to Kanakapura, hometown of deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar. Kanakapura road is crucial and a key road connecting Bengaluru city. The 10-km stretch is estimated to cost around Rs 1,200 crore. Authorities have begun preparation for a detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed expressway.

“Since Metro rail passes through this road, it is difficult to construct a grade separator. Therefore, an alternative arrangement is necessary,” wrote Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) chief Tushar Giri, reported The New Indian Express.

He added, “Pressure on Kanakapura road can be eased by constructing a flyover on the pipeline road of Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), which runs parallel to this stretch. I have directed the chief engineer (BBMP Planning Centre) to take immediate action in this regard and prepare a feasibility report and a detailed project report.”

Bengaluru Expressway Connecting Banashankari-NICE Road: Tenders To Be Out Soon

Following the letter, a senior BBMP engineer confirmed that tenders would be invited soon, the media report claimed. “Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) built a double-decker flyover at Ragigudda, but traffic jams persist due to a lack of end-to-end connectivity. The proposed expressway aims to resolve this issue,” the engineer said.
