Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Jail is under scrutiny after videos showing notorious inmates, including serial rapist and killer Umesh Reddy, using mobile phones and enjoying unwarranted luxuries have surfaced on social media. The footage has sparked allegations of major security lapses and preferential treatment at the Bengaluru jail.
Responding to this, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said he was ‘unaware’ of the development but assured that he would ‘look into the matter’ and take necessary action, news agency IANS reported.

The footage also shows a TV in his barracks, raising serious questions about systemic corruption and security lapses at the high-security facility.
In 2022, the Supreme Court of India commuted Reddy’s death sentence to 30 years of imprisonment without remission. Although he had initially requested clemency, claiming mental illness, medical evaluations confirmed that he was mentally fit.
