Bengaluru Namma Metro Update: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has alerted of temporary suspension Purple Line services on a section on June 22, Sunday in view of maintenance work between Halasuru and Trinity stations. BMRCL has urged the commuters to plan their day in advance to avoid inconvenience.

Purple Line services between MG Road and Baiyappanahalli stations will be halted for 2 hours from 7 am to 9 am. According to BMRCL, the short disruption is necessary to ensure the safety of both the system and its passengers, as per a report by The Hindu.

The disruption will not impact other parts of the Purple Line that is - from Challaghatta to MG Road and from Baiyappanahalli to Whitefield. Metro trains on these routes will operate as usua.

In another update regarding the Namma metro, BMRCL has started third rail electrification testing on a key stretch of the upcoming Pink Line. The trials are currently being conducted between Jayadeva and Tavarekere, covering a 7.5 kilometre elevated section.

This phase marks the first time trains on the Pink Line will draw power through a third rail — a rail positioned alongside the track that supplies electricity directly. This is a significant development ahead of eventual passenger services.
