Bengaluru Power Cut: The Bangalore Electricity Distribution Company (BESCOM) has announced a shutdown in multiple areas on Friday, January 2. BESCOM has urged the residents to plan their day in advance to avoid inconvenience. Supply will be restored if works are completed ahead of schedule.

Power cut in Bengaluru will take place from 10 am to 5 pm, depending on the completion of maintenance work.

Power supply will be affected in the Nagarabhavi division. The following parts are likely to be affected:

-Nagarabhavi

-Manjunatha Nagar

-Kalidasa Layout

-Shanthinagar

-Kottigepalya

-Water Supply and Pumping Station areas

-Surrounding residential and commercial locations

In another news, rail travel between Bengaluru and Mangaluru may soon get a major upgrade, with a Vande Bharat Express service expected to be introduced on the busy coastal route. The announcement has raised hopes among passengers who have long sought a faster and more comfortable train connection between the two cities.

Union Minister of State for Railways V Somanna has indicated that the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express is planned for the Bengaluru-Mangaluru sector. The route is widely used by business travellers, students and tourists, but has faced challenges due to difficult terrain.

In a social media post late Monday night, Somanna said the wait for the Mangaluru region could soon end. He added that the iconic train is likely to run through Karnataka’s Western Ghats, fulfilling a long-standing public demand.
