Bengaluru Water Cut: The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has alerted residents of a supply disruption for two hours on Thursday, November 14from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm in view of essential repairs on the 220 kV power line. It will affected all phases of the Cauvery water system.
This announcement follows the launch of the ambitious Cauvery Phase 5 Water Supply Project, aimed at addressing the region’s chronic water shortages. Initiated by Karnataka’s deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar last month, this project is set to provide a stable water source for around five million residents, according to a report by the Deccan Herald.

The project also includes the construction of India’s largest water treatment facility with a 775 MLD (Million Litres per Day) capacity, which will be supported by an advanced flood control mechanism to minimise service interruptions.
Additionally, three advanced booster pumping stations were recently installed at TK Halli, Harohalli, and Tataguni. These facilities enable water to be pumped through a network of 110-kilometer steel pipes to a height of 450 meters, which is roughly equivalent of a 50-story structure.

The project's scope and significance for Bengaluru's water resilience are highlighted by the fact that it took an estimated 2.4 crore man-hours and 145,000 metric tonnes of steel to complete.
While Thursday’s repair is a temporary inconvenience, it highlights ongoing efforts to improve the city’s water infrastructure, which should eventually result in a more reliable supply for Bengaluru's residents.
