BWSSB Water Tariff Revision: The Water tariff in Bengaluru has been reduced for certain sections. The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has made changes in water tariff for the second time this year, after it increased the tariff in April after a decade. In its latest amendment to the water tariffs, the board has reduced water charges for Paying Guest (PG) accommodations.
According to a report by Deccan Herald, the publication accessed the new orders by the board regarding new water tariffs. As per the order, the charges in apartments will no longer be based on the amount of water consumed, but the board will also consider the number of houses in the complex.

Previously, apartments consuming more water were pushed to a higher slab, regardless of how much water an individual household consumed. Residents protested against the system, calling it arbitrary and incapable of considering the number of households sharing the supply.
With the introduction of a new slab, more apartment complexes are expected to see reduced water bills, while smaller complexes with fewer than 200 houses could face higher charges due to the introduction of a new framework.
As per the latest changes, apartments in complexes will be allotted 200 litres per day, charged at Rs 32 per kilolitre. If any apartment uses more than that, the charges will increase to Rs 55 per kilolitre.
