Bengaluru Weather: Heavy rain lashed Bengaluru, bringing much needed respite to the residents after enduring scorching heat. Rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds swept across the city on Saturday. Several areas in the state are experiencing intense downpours, providing much-needed relief from the rising temperatures. As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), neighboring districts, including Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Tumakuru, Ramanagara, and Mandya, are also likely to witness light rain and thundershowers over the weekend. IMD said Bengaluru city recorded 3.6 mm of rainfall with thunderstorms from 8.30 am to 8.30 pm.

Bengaluru Traffic Advisory

The Bengaluru Traffic Police issued an advisory warning commuters about severe congestion on the Nagawara-Hebbal stretch due to waterlogging. Authorities urged motorists to be patient as traffic movement remained slow in affected areas.

Many residents took to social media to document the impact of the rains, sharing videos of flooded streets, swaying trees, and even Bengaluru’s first rainbow of the year. Some users described the sudden change in weather as "Bengaluru being Bengaluru."

Bengaluru Weather Forecast

As per IMD, similar weather conditions are expected across Karnataka in the coming days. On March 22, light rain and thundershowers may occur in districts such as Dakshina Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru, Kodagu, Hassan, and Chamarajanagar. Bengaluru and its neighbouring regions are also likely to receive more rainfall.

Other parts of the state, including Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Vijayapura, and Raichur, may see light showers, while gusty winds of 30-40 kmph could affect isolated locations. However, dry weather is expected to prevail in other regions.

The unexpected showers have brought both joy and challenges to the city, offering relief from the heat while also leading to traffic disruptions and waterlogging in some areas.
