A shocking case of daylight harassment has emerged from Bengaluru, Karnataka, where a woman was assaulted for refusing a relationship proposal. The accused, angry over the rejection, molested the woman on the street and slapped her repeatedly. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras.
The Incident
The incident occurred on the afternoon of December 22 at around 3:20 PM. CCTV footage shows the woman standing near her scooter when the accused arrived in a car. He snatched her purse and began searching through it.
Assault And Public Apathy
The accused began slapping the woman in broad daylight. He struck her on her head and back and even attempted to disrobe her. He continued to beat the woman while dragging her across the road. Disturbingly, while two or three people stood by and watched the incident unfold, no one stepped in to help the victim.
FIR Registered
The accused has been identified as Naveen Kumar. After publicly assaulting the woman, he fled the scene in his car. According to the police FIR, the victim had connected with Naveen via Instagram in 2024. They subsequently began communicating through phone calls and messages. During this time, Naveen had been pressuring the victim to enter into a relationship, but she had clearly refused.
Accused Detained
On December 22, when the victim stepped out of her PG (Paying Guest accommodation), Naveen arrived in his car and brutally assaulted her. The police have taken Naveen into custody and have begun interrogation. The matter is currently under investigation.
