Bharat Tiwari Encounter Case: In a major update in the Bharat Bhushan Tiwari encounter case in Bihar, Rajesh Sharma, the SDPO accused in the case, has been given a new responsibility in the capital city Patna. Sharma has been appointed DSP of the Prohibition and Narcotics Control Bureau, reported Jagran. His appointment has been objected to by the kins of Bharat Bhushan, who urged the state government to order a detailed probe against the senior official.

Family Members Cry Foul

Earlier, Asha Devi, mother of Bharat Tiwari, lodged an FIR against the Jagdishpur SDPO, accusing him of deliberately killing her son while he was allegedly ready to surrender. The family of the deceased has questioned the government's decision to transfer and post the accused policemen. Asha Devi, while talking to the reporters, alleged that instead of conducting a fair probe, the administration has tried to save the accused.

The villagers held a Mahapanchayat in Bhojpur against the police encounter on June 24, with several senior politicians and members of civil societies participating in the event. After meeting the deceased's mother, Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraj party, asserted that his party will launch a massive campaign if justice is not delivered within 15 days.

"If Bharat Bhushan Tiwari does not get justice within 15 days, we will carry out a gherao of Samrat Chaudhary's residence in Patna," Kishor told the reporters. As per the organising committee, along with the locals, people from other states, including Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh, took part in the gathering.

The encounter has been criticized by several NDA leaders too, including MLA Anand Mishra, senior BJP leader Ashwini Chaubey, and JDU senior leader Sanjay Jha. The state government has assured that strict action will be taken against the culprits as per the findings of the probe.
