Bihar Exit Polls: All major exit polls have predicted a majority for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Bihar Assembly elections, with the Nitish Kumar-led alliance projected to form the next government. However, the latest Axis My India exit poll indicates that the Mahagathbandhan has attracted a larger share of young voters, particularly first-time voters.

According to Axis My India, the NDA is expected to win between 121 and 140 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan may secure 98 to 118 seats. The Prashant Kishor-led Jan Suraaj Party is projected to win up to two seats. In terms of vote share, the NDA stands at 43 per cent, followed by the Mahagathbandhan at 41 per cent and the Jan Suraaj Party at 4 per cent.

The survey also provided detailed insights into the voting trends based on age, caste, gender and occupation. It suggested that the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan has managed to retain its core Muslim-Yadav support base, while the NDA gained significantly among women and older voters.

Bihar Exit Polls: Age-wise Voting Trends

The exit poll revealed that younger voters leaned more towards the Opposition. In the 18 to 19 age group, 46 per cent supported the Mahagathbandhan, while the NDA received 37 per cent. Similarly, in the 20 to 29 age group, 44 per cent voted for the Opposition alliance and 37 per cent chose the NDA.

As the age groups increase, the NDA’s support rises. Among voters aged 30 to 39 years, the NDA held a narrow lead with 43 per cent compared to the Mahagathbandhan’s 42 per cent. The trend continued among older voters and among those aged 70 years and above, 51 per cent supported the NDA.

Bihar Exit Polls: Gender-wise Trends

The survey found that women voters largely backed the NDA, while men showed more support for the Opposition. About 45 per cent of women voted for the NDA, compared to 40 per cent for the Mahagathbandhan. Among men, 42 per cent supported the Opposition alliance, while 41 per cent voted for the NDA.

Women have long been a strong voter base for Nitish Kumar, largely due to his government’s welfare schemes. One such initiative is the financial assistance of Rs 10,000 each to 75 lakh women in the state.
