State Bureau, Patna | Dr Narendra Pratap Singh, who was absent at the PMCH during the pre-scheduled visit of Health Minister Nishant Kumar, was removed from the post of hospital principal on Thursday. Dr Geeta Sinha was given additional charge of the PMCH Principal until further orders.
Dr Singh was absent from a pre-scheduled program held at PMCH on June 23. Finding him absent, the health minister attempted to contact the doctor, but he did not pick up the phone, after which he ordered an internal enquiry.
What Has Probe Found?
During the investigation, it was also found that Dr Singh was present at his private clinic during office hours.
PMCH Principal Skips Nishant's Event
On Tuesday, the Bihar Health Minister visited the PMCH for the first time after assuming office. Nishant was annoyed after he did not find the principal during his inspection. Taking the matter seriously, the Health Minister ordered action.
As per the pre-scheduled program, the Health Minister inspected various health services at the hospital, but Principal Dr Singh was not present during the entire visit and review meeting.
The Health Minister expressed strong displeasure over the lack of information regarding the Principal's leave and hinted at action. It was reported that Dr Singh was ill.
After inaugurating the new Radiology Department at PMCH, the Health Minister held a review meeting in the Superintendent's office.
On the Health Minister's instructions, officials attempted to contact him, but were unable to speak. Speaking to the media, the Health Minister said the Principal's absence, despite prior notice of the program, is a serious matter. He stated that such absence from a meeting by an official holding a responsible position is unacceptable.
