Amid the ongoing rescue efforts following a significant train derailment of the North East Express at Bihar's Raghunathpur station, leaving four people dead and many injured. A passenger shared his experience to the news agency IANS.
Mohammad Nasir, who was in the B7 coach of the Kamakhya Express, lost his young cousin in the incident.
"We were suddenly thrown off our seats. I was shocked and initially couldn't understand anything. The train had overturned at high speed. When I tried to look around, I couldn't find my cousin. And then I found him dead. He was just 25."
Abu Jaid (25), Nasir's cousin, lost his life in the train accident at Bihar’s Raghunthpur station. Nasir also sustained injuries during the accident.
Both Nasir and Abu Jaid had boarded the train in Delhi's Anand Vihar and were en route to Bihar's Kishanganj district, situated near the West Bengal border.
Pramod Kumar, the Superintendent of Police (SP) for Bhojpur, said, “The rescue operation is currently underway. We have recovered four dead bodies so far. Besides, several persons were injured and were admitted in the different hospitals in Arrah, Buxar and Patna.”
Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister, Tejashwi Yadav, directed civil surgeons in Buxar, Arrah, and Patna to make necessary arrangements for the treatment of the injured individuals in local hospitals.

The derailment of the Anand Vihar (New Delhi) Kamakhya Dham North East Superfast express occurred near Raghunathpur Railway on the Deen Dayal Upadhyay (Mugalsarai) Patna rail section on Wednesday night, around 10 pm. A total of 21 coaches derailed in the mishap, resulting in four fatalities.
East Central Railway (ECR) CPRO informed IANS, "Four people have died, and 21 coaches of the train derailed near Raghunathpur Railway station yard on Wednesday night."
