The weather will remain very erratic in the coming days as parts of Bihar will see severe heatwave conditions, along with thunderstorms and rain. The IMD has issued warnings of thunderstorms and rainfall with gusty winds over many districts, while saying heat wave conditions would persist over some districts of the state simultaneously.

Alert for heavy rainfall on May 25

As per the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is expected on May 25 across many parts of the state, and thunderstorm activity will persist until May 28. Rain and thunderstorms are predicted over Patna on May 25. Similar weather is forecast over Darbhanga, Madhubani, Gaya, Bhagalpur, and Purnia between May 24 and 25.

Rajgir has recorded strong winds of up to 48 kmph in the last 24 hours, and IMD has warned of thunderstorms with winds moving at the speed of 50-60 kmph and gales up to 70 kmph in some places.

Rainfall received by Purnia, still no respite from heat

Over the last 24 hours, Purnia has received approximately 7 cm of rainfall. But complete respite from heat is still uncertain over the state, with a possibility of heat wave conditions in isolated places over the state on May 23-24.

IMD Advisory

During a thunderstorm, one must be cautious and stay away from open fields or take shelter under trees during a storm. People have also been advised to switch off electrical appliances during lightning, and stay away from waterlogged streets and flooded areas during rainfall.
