Bihar: A woman, her boyfriend and a contract killer have been arrested for allegedly murdering the woman's husband while he was travelling on a train in Bihar.
Technician Shot While Travelling On Train In Bihar
The victim, Dev Kumar Gunjan, a technician with the state Electricity Department posted in Jamui, was shot near Badla Ghat in Bihar's Khagaria district. The incident occurred on June 11 while Gunjan was travelling by train to visit his wife, Samita Kumari, who was posted as a Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) in Supaul.

Gunjan and Samita were married in 2018 and have a five-year-old daughter.
Wife, Boyfriend Hired Contract Killer To 'Eliminate' Husband
The investigation revealed that Samita was in a relationship with Ajit Kumar, a government technician posted in Nalanda. Viewing Gunjan as an 'obstacle' to their relationship, the duo allegedly conspired to eliminate him.
Speaking to news agency PTI, Katihar SP (Rail) Hari Shankar Kumar stated that the couple hired a contract killer, identified as Raju Kumar alias Dheeraj, to execute the murder.
"During interrogation, Ajit confessed that he and Samita were in a relationship and considered Gunjan an obstacle. The two hatched a conspiracy and hired Dheeraj to kill Gunjan while he was travelling by train," the SP was quoted as saying.
Police Seize Mobile Phones, SIM Card Used In Murder
Authorities have seized mobile phones and SIM cards allegedly used to plan and execute the murder. According to a statement issued by the SP's office, Dheeraj has a criminal record and was previously jailed in connection with a 2025 case registered under the Arms Act before securing bail.
Meanwhile, police stated that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend any other individuals involved in the conspiracy.
A Parallel To Ketan Agarwal Murder
The incident draws parallels to several recent high-profile murder cases allegedly driven by relationship disputes, including the Ketan Agarwal murder in Pune. In that case, businessman Ketan Agarwal was murdered by his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her lover, Chetan. Investigators revealed that the duo conspired to eliminate Agarwal after viewing him as an obstacle to their relationship. The investigation into that case remains ongoing.
