A group of Bharatiya Janata Party workers staged a protest in Kolkata's Mukundpur area on Saturday, demanding that a private hospital stop providing treatment to non-Hindu patients from Bangladesh. The protest was staged amid alleged atrocities against the Hindu community in Bangladesh since the ouster of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The private hospital is one of the prominent hospitals in the area, and a significant number of patients from the neighbouring countries get treatment here. The protesters submitted a memorandum to the hospital authority stating that no medical treatment should be given to non-Hindu Bangladeshi because of the ongoing atrocities.

“Country comes first… our brothers and sisters are being tortured and killed over there. Thus, no medical treatment should be provided to non-Hindu Bangladeshi’s,” the memorandum read. “It’s time that we keep our ethics and business aside for the respect of our nation, Tricolour the Tiranga,” it added.
One of the members of ‘Salute Tiranga' stated that what is happening with the minorities in Bangladesh is not right, and we must oppose that. “We are pained at what is happening to our minority Hindu brothers and sisters in Bangladesh. They are being tortured and killed. This should be stopped. Nation always comes first,” Narayan Chatterjee was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
The saffron party leaders further confirmed that they have given similar ultimatums to other private hospitals in the city. They added that they will protest outside the hospitals that provide medical services to non-Hindu Bangladeshi's.

Earlier this month, a 141-bed hospital in Kolkata announced that they will not be admitting patients from Bangladesh, citing the alleged disrespect shown to the Indian national flag in Bangladesh and the atrocities against the minorities. Another hospital in the city took a similar stance while stating that no service or business was bigger than the country itself.
