The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) could never have anticipated such a crushing defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections. Apart from Chief Minister Atishi and Gopal Rai, almost all of the party's prominent leaders were defeated. In the New Delhi Assembly seat, BJP leader Pravesh Verma triumphed over AAP convener and former CM Arvind Kejriwal. 

Besides, Manish Sisodia lost to BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah by a narrow margin of just 675 votes.

However, there were more than 10 assembly seats where the victory margin was extremely slim.

In the Timarpur Assembly seat, the margin of victory and defeat was less than 1,500 votes. BJP candidate Surya Prakash Khatri received 55,941 votes, while AAP candidate Surinder Pal Singh got 54,773 votes, losing by just 1,168 votes. 

In Rajinder Nagar, BJP candidate Umang Bajaj became the youngest MLA, aged 31. Umang won by a margin of just 1,231 votes. He received a total of 46,671 votes, while AAP candidate Durgesh Pathak received 45,440 votes.

This time, AAP fielded Manish Sisodia from Jangpura instead of Patparganj, but the strategy failed. Sisodia lost the electron by a margin of just 675 votes to BJP candidate Tarvinder Singh Marwah. 

On the Malviya Nagar Assembly seat, BJP candidate Satish Upadhyay defeated AAP's senior leader Somnath Bharti by just 2,131 votes. 

In the Mahrauli Assembly seat, BJP candidate Gajendra Singh Yadav defeated AAP candidate Mahinder Chaudhary by a margin of 1,782 votes. 

On the Sangam Vihar seat, BJP's Chandan Kumar Chaudhary won by just 344 votes. AAP had fielded Dinesh Mohaniya against him.

On the Trilokpuri Assembly seat, the margin of victory and defeat was only 392 votes. BJP candidate Ravi Kant received 58,217 votes, while AAP's Anjana Parcha received 57,825 votes.

Finally, in the New Delhi Assembly seat, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal was defeated by BJP's Pravesh Verma. Kejriwal received a total of 25,999 votes, while Pravesh Verma garnered 30,088 votes, defeating Kejriwal by a margin of 4,089 votes.
