Eleven Indian cities experienced a complete blackout today as tensions escalated between India and Pakistan following the Operation Sindoor airstrike on May 7. The affected states include Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir, after Pakistan attempted to target cities across these regions. Sirens and explosions were heard during the blackout hours.

The List Of Cities Went Blackout Today

Punjab

Several cities across Punjab experienced a complete blackout amid escalating tensions in the region. The affected cities include Firozpur, Hoshiarpur, Moga, Sangrur, Muktsar, Fazilka, Bathinda, Jalandhar, and Gurdaspur. These power outages are part of heightened security measures and precautionary protocols as authorities respond to cross-border threats and maintain public safety.

Rajasthan And Haryana 

In addition to Punjab, blackouts were also reported in parts of Haryana and Rajasthan. The cities affected include Ambala and Panchkula in Haryana, as well as Jaisalmer and Barmer in Rajasthan.

Jammu And Kashmir 

In Jammu and Kashmir, several key regions experienced blackouts amid heightened security alerts. Affected areas include Nagrota, Rajouri, Pathankot, Akhnoor, Samba, Kathua, and parts of Srinagar. Additionally, Baramulla, Udhampur, Poonch, Jammu city, and Katra also faced power outages as precautionary measures were implemented across the Union Territory.

Authorities have requested residents in the affected areas to stay indoors and strictly follow safety protocols, as the situation remains tense and security forces stay on high alert.

Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi announced on Thursday, May 8, 2025, that no leave will be granted to any officer or government official, citing the need to maintain full readiness of the emergency response system.

“In view of the prevailing situation and preparedness for the emergency response system, the Competent Authority has directed that no leave shall be granted to any officer/official of the Government of NCT of Delhi, till further orders,” NCTD said.
