In light of India's journey towards 100 years of independence, the book “Brand India: Story of Bharat in a Changing World” was launched in New Delhi. Written by Dr Himanshu Rai and Dr Varsha Jain, the book powerfully portrays India's aspirations, challenges, and achievements. It explains how India is becoming a global power and a brand that is gaining recognition worldwide.
This book is not limited to economics and politics, but offers a comprehensive vision of India's transformation across diverse dimensions such as culture, technology, sustainable development, innovation, and spirituality. It also mentions national initiatives such as Digital India, Make in India, Skill India, Startup India, and Atmanirbhar Bharat, which are integrated into the broader vision of a developed India@2047. Through these references, Brand India positions India not just as an emerging economy, but also as a civilizational power and a global thought leader.
Special guests at the launch included Rekha Sharma, Rajya Sabha MP (Panchkula); Yuvraj Malik, Director, National Book Trust (NBT), and Kumar Vikram, Chief Editor and Joint Director, National Book Trust (NBT).
Speaking on the occasion, author Dr Himanshu Rai said: "'Brand India: Story of Bharat in a Changing World' is built on the actions and routines we engage in, innovate, demonstrate creativity, and contribute. It is a story written by 1.4 billion Indians. We chose this concept because as we move forward in the 21st century, India continues to fulfill its eternal role as a Vishwaguru (World Leader), guiding the world with knowledge, values, and innovation. Such narratives are essential to preserving this spirit of continuity and renaissance."
Yuvraj Malik said: “Brand India: Story of Bharat in a Changing World is a timely, relevant, and much-needed book. The National Book Trust has always believed that books shape societies, and this book expresses the aspirations of a new India, one that is confident, courageous, and future-ready. The precision with which the authors have mapped India's journey and articulated its future is commendable. Rekha Sharma emphasised empowerment as the cornerstone of Brand India. She said, “India's future lies in giving women equal space and opportunity in every field, in nurturing our youth, and in bridging the gap between rural and urban prosperity.” She added, “This book is not only an academic contribution but also an inspiring call to action. I commend the authors for inviting every citizen to consider themselves as India's Brand Ambassador and for presenting this vision so clearly.”
