BPSC Protests:  Patna police used light force to deter the hundreds of Bihar Public Service Commission aspirants protesting amid the apprehensions about a potential multi-shift pattern being mulled by the recruiting body. Cops charged batons and chased away students protesting outside the commission's office on Patna's Bailey Road. However, undeterred by the police action, students kept their agitation going with several prominent teachers later joining them.

Popular educator and YouTuber Faizal Khan joined the students at the protest site earlier today and demanded BPSC's clarification on the issue.

"How unfortunate is this that we need to protest for our demand on the land of Chanakya just one week before the examinations? We want the president (of BPSC) to say that there will be no normalisation the examinations will be held in one shift and one paper will be given to all the students... We will not move from here until normalisation is assured to be removed," he said.

Why BPSC Aspirants Are Protesting

The aspirants are protesting against reports suggesting a potential last-minute change in the exam pattern in the combined public service exam. Several media reports have suggested a potential multi-shift examination followed by marks normalisation in the 70th Combined Preliminary Examination scheduled in Bihar on December 13.

What BPSC Says

Although students remained steadfast in their protest, the Secretary of the BPSC, clarified that the commission has not announced any plan for normalisation. While the commission has dismissed rumours about normalisation, the candidates are seeking official assurance to avoid any last-minute surprises that could affect their prospects.

"If normalisation were to be applied, the commission would have mentioned it explicitly in the notification or issued a separate notice," Sharma said. He dismissed the protests as baseless, stating: "Why should the commission clarify regarding the misleading talks about normalisation? Those protesting are not serious candidates but individuals who do not focus on their studies."
