New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: As the death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter sent shockwaves across the world, Twitter went berserk over an eight-year-old eerie tweet which had “predicted” the way Kobe would die way back in November, 2012.

A Twitter user who goes by the name @dotNoso allegedly posted a tweet on November 14, 2012, saying that the 18-time NBA All-Star basketball legend would die in a helicopter crash.

"Kobe is going to end up dying in a helicopter crash," read the Twitter post.

Bryant was killed along with his teenage daughter and seven others when their helicopter crashed in Southern California on Sunday.

Kobe, widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, had even started coaching his daughter Gigi’s team at his academy after retiring in 2016.

While the tweet caused a real frenzy on social media, the bigger debate began on whether the tweet was real or fake.

Many pointed out that @dotNoso had used Carbon V2.5 client for Twitter to modify the date of the tweet to 2012, which he had allegedly posted after the death of the NBA legend.

"How did you use Carbon V2.5 in 2012 while V2.4.31 was released in 2015?" said one user.

Another replied: "This doesn't prove that it's fake. All of the tweets from this account around this date are sent from "Carbon v2.5". It has to be a Twitter bug or something".

"The date was edited by a 3rd party app, chill guys," said another.

"The original Carbon app launched in 2011 (see their old username @CarbonAndroid). It did exist when this was posted," added another user.

However, one user named Mike Beasley explained could not have been edited and is, in all likelihood, real.

Twitter’s API does not allow modifying tweets, including dates, he explained. The original tweet was posted via Carbon client for WebOS, @MikeBeas pointed out.

The post, however, led to some users starting weird demands from @dotNoso.

"Do trump next," commented one Twitter user.

Another tweeted: "Please say Kejriwal is going to lose the Delhi election".

The helicopter crash was being investigated by local and federal authorities. "It's a logistical nightmare in a sense because the crash site itself is not easily accessible," Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva was quoted as saying in a news conference by CNN.
