Jaipur Schoolgirl Suicide: Neerja Modi School in Jaipur has been served with a notice by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) after a preliminary inquiry into the death of a Class 6 student revealed that the victim was bullied by her classmates and subjected to verbal abuse. The class 6 girl died by suicide after jumping from the fourth floor of the school on November 1.

A CCTV camera captured the incident, showing the girl climbing the railing before jumping from the fourth floor of the school building. The parents of the minor have now blamed the teacher for ignoring their complaints about their daughter.

As per the CBSE inquiry report, the girl faced constant bullying by classmates. She was also subjected to verbal abuse, which at times was explicit and sexual in nature.

On the day of the incident, the girl had sought help from her class teacher on two occasions, the report said, adding that she was visibly distressed.

According to a report by News18, the CBSE has labelled the incident a "serious violation" of safety and mental-well-being guidelines, while accusing the school administration of not referring the girl to the school counsellor.

Earlier, the deceased student's mother, Shivani, alleged that their daughter was bullied in school and she had informed the teacher about it. Despite this, no action was taken. The victim's father, Vijay, cited an incident at a parent-teacher meeting, saying that a boy was making gestures at his daughter.

He said that he brought up the incident to the class teacher, who dismissed it. He alleged that the teacher asked the girl to understand that it was a co-ed school.
