The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) on Friday filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court seeking to quash the FIR against it in the tragic stampede during the RCB event.
As per several reports, the state cricket association has distanced itself from the event and has pinned the blame on the government, RCB, and the event organisers, saying that the gate and crowd management was not their responsibility.
The KSCA has also clarified that it had no role in organising the event, adding that it was at the call of the government and was held in the presence of CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar.
According to a report by India Today, the KSCA stated, "The decision to hold the event was taken by the government. It was conducted at Vidhana Soudha, not at Chinnaswamy Stadium."
"The celebration was facilitated by the government itself, in the presence of the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, cabinet ministers, and senior police officials," the cricket body added.
"The gate management and crowd management was not the responsibility of KSCA, it was of RCB, the organiser, and the police," the petition read.
The association also blamed the Bengaluru Police and the government for "serious failure of justice" in making it an accused in the FIR.
The Karnataka High Court had taken suo motu cognisance of the tragic incident that left 11 dead and 47 others injured.
Meanwhile, the Bengaluru Police on Friday arrested four individuals, including RCB marketing head Nikhil Sosale and three staffers of the event organising firm.
