Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport will offer direct flights from Chandigarh to Singapore for travellers starting on October 27. The flight is scheduled to fly every day starting on October 27 and will be a part of the winter schedule. The CEO of Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport has announced that Indigo Airlines has scheduled a flight from Chandigarh to Singapore.

Ajay Verma, chief executive officer (CEO) of Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport said, "IndiGo Airlines have scheduled a flight from Chandigarh to Singapore. However, we are awaiting confirmation from them, which is expected by October 20. We are also trying for other international destinations, like London and Istanbul," as quoted by Hindustan Times.

He also mentioned that IndiGo and Qantas Airlines conducted codeshare flights from Singapore to other destinations. Airlines that have a collaboration arrangement in place to share a flight under their airline codes are known as codeshare partners.

Only two international flights are now offered by the airport to Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to the HT report. The airport serves 33 domestic routes across the nation in addition to the two international flights. These routes go to Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Indore, Leh, Jaipur, Lucknow, Chennai, Patna, Pune, Srinagar, Jammu, Hisar, and Dharamshala.

The airport, formerly known as Chandigarh International Airport, was officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 11, 2015. It is a collaborative initiative between the governments of Punjab, Haryana, and the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The HT report further stated that in September 2022, in observance of the freedom fighter's 115th birthday, the airport was renamed as Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport.
