In separate news, Police have launched a search for a group of school students who damaged the windows of a Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus after its crew stopped them from travelling on the footboard. The incident took place on Tuesday evening on the 51T Pink bus operating between Madurapakkam and T Nagar.
According to officials, four students boarded the bus at Tiruvanchery and refused to move inside despite repeated warnings. Moments later, four others followed on motorbikes, holding onto the handrails and creating panic among passengers. When the driver stopped the bus at Selaiyur to confront them, the boys fled, only to return near Mahalakshmi Nagar, where they hurled stones at the bus, shattering its windshields.
The driver, Selvam, sustained minor injuries while passengers were safely shifted to another bus. Police have registered a case based on CCTV footage. MTC staff said such incidents involving students have become frequent along routes near Selaiyur and Camp Road.
