Chennai Weather:The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning in Chennai on Tuesday. Several parts of the city and nearby areas have been witnessing incessant showers over the past few days. Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has informed of heavy rain at isolated places across nine districts in the state, including Chengalpattu, Villuppuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai and Ramanathapuram on November 8 and 9. Puducherry and Karaikal may also receive heavy rainfall during this period.
According to the RMC, two cyclonic circulations are currently active — one over the southeast Arabian Sea off the Kerala coast and another over southeast Bay of Bengal. A trough extends from the cyclonic circulation over the southeast Bay of Bengal to south Tamil Nadu, extending up to 3.1 km above mean sea level.
The RMC said heavy rain is likely at some places in Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Madurai, Theni, and Virudhunagar districts on November 10.
Chennai Weather: Weekly Forecast
The city is expected to receive rain throughout the week with varying intensities and fluctuating temperatures. On November 5 and November 6, the forecast predicts a generally cloudy sky with light rain. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will range between 25 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius.
On November 7, the city is anticipated to experience a partly cloudy sky with a possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorms. The maximum temperature is expected to be 32 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 25 degrees Celsius.
On November 8, Chennai is predicted to have a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain. Temperatures are expected to reach a maximum of 32 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25 degrees Celsius.
For November 9 and November 10, the city is expected to continue receiving rain. The temperatures will likely remain steady, with a maximum of 32 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26 degrees Celsius.

Landslips At 10 Locations After Rain In Western Ghats
Following sporadic rainfall in Western Ghats, landslips occurred at 10 places on the mountain road connecting Periyakulam to Agamalai in Theni district.
The district received 749.4 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours ending 7.30 am on Monday, with Coonoor and Burliyar receiving the highest of 87 mm and 82 mm, respectively.
