The weather department stated that Chennai is set to receive heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and gusty wind, till July 24. Apart from this, the other regions are also expected to witness light to moderate rainfall. The IMD stated that the rainfall is likely to provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. It further advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

Few places along the AP / TN border may see intense spell of #Rains later in the day depending on real time winds," a regional weather forecast stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
