CG Assembly Election 2023 1st Phase Live Updates: The first phase of Chhattisgarh Assembly elections were marred by several incidents of encounters between the security forces and the naxals. A gunfight took place in the Bande police station area of Kanker district as naxals attacked BSF and DRG teams. In Sukma district, three security personnel were injured in an encounter with naxals near near Minpa. Earlier in the day, an IED blast triggered by Naxals left one CRPF jawan injured in Sukma. The attack came a day after another explosion in Kanker district, where two polling personnel and a BSF jawan were injured. A majority of seats, where polling is underway, fall in the insurgency-hit Bastar division.
Among the key seats voting today are Kanker, Kondagaon, Dantewada, Bijapur, Konta, Rajnandgaon, Bastar, Jagdalpur and Chitrakot. The first phase sees 12 tribal-dominated constituencies of Bastar division hold elections today. As many as 223 candidates, including 25 women, are in the fray in the first phase of Chhattisgarh Assembly election 2023.

Baghel Says Central Probe Agencies Will 'Take Break' After Chhattisgarh's Second Phase Of Voting
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday took a potshot at the BJP-ruled central government, saying that the personnel of its probe agencies will get respite from work only after the voting for second phase of the state Assembly election concludes on November 17.

CG Election 2023 1st Phase Live Updates: Security Beefed Up In Odisha
Meanwhile, security as also tightened in the neighbouring state of Odisha to check the movement of Maoists. Joint security forces, comprising the BSF, DVF (district voluntary force) and SOG (special operation group), conducted counter-insurgency operations in border areas. A high alert has been sounded in Kotpad, Kundra and Boipariguda police station areas, according to Koraput's Superintendent Police Avinabh Sonkar. "Though at present the situation is normal, we can't be complacent. On the instruction of the Election Commission, adequate security-related measures have been taken along the border to check the movement of Maoists," PTI quoted him as saying.

The blast, which took place around 4 pm, left two polling personnel and a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan injured.
