Chhattisgarh Balrampur Dam Collapse: Chhattisgarh’s Balrampur district witnessed a tragic incident when a portion of a small dam collapsed, triggering a flash flood that claimed the lives of seven people. The breach occurred late Tuesday night in the Luti reservoir following heavy rains. The dam’s collapse caused the floodwaters to sweep away two houses in its path. Among the seven feared dead, six belonged to the same family.

According to jagran.com, Police recovered three bodies late at night, including a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. Meanwhile, one villager and three children remain missing, creating widespread panic in the area.

Upon receiving news of the dam breach, police and rescue teams rushed to the site, while villagers joined the search for the missing. The accident took place in Dhaneshpur village, located in Vishramnagar, Balrampur. The dam, constructed in 1980-81 to create the reservoir, is flanked by hills on both sides.

The reservoir had started leaking about 10-12 years ago but was repaired at that time.
