In a surprising incident, a young man presumed to be dead returned alive during his own last rites in Chhattisgarh's Surajpur.

The incident took place in Surajpur's Chandrapur after a young man, identified as Purushottam, went missing. Last Saturday, a body was discovered from a well in the Manpur area.

The family, which had been searching for Purushottam, rushed to the site and identified the body. The police subsequently handed over the body to them. A case was registered, and the family buried the body as per the rituals in the presence of the authorities.

While the last rites were being held, one of their relatives surprised everyone by saying that Purushottam was alive and present at their house.

Surajpur SSP Santosh Mahato said that the family was stunned but filled with joy upon seeing him.

While the incident eventually did not turn tragic for the family but the question that still lingers is about the identity of the person who actually died and was buried.

The police stated that the clothes and other belongings of the deceased were preserved to identify him. They stated that the body will be exhumed only if the family lodges a formal claim.

The Surajpur Police are now planning to investigate the case from a new angle and dive deeper to identify the person who died and the reason for his death. The shocking case has become the talk of the village and the nearby areas.
