Jagran Correspondent, New Delhi: The Central District team of Delhi Police busted a major interstate child trafficking syndicate on Thursday morning. Police arrested 12 accused in the case and rescued five infants. Among the accused is a doctor, who owns a private hospital in the Rohini’s Begumpur area. As per the police, the doctor misused his hospital to run a child trafficking network.

Price Was Fixed After Analysing Status Of Customer

According to the police, this hospital, located in Begumpur, is named Hira Kapoor Hospital. Its owner, Dr Vivek, has been arrested. The hospital has a 25-bed capacity. Newborns from Rajasthan’s Pali were brought to this hospital and kept there, where they were then sold. The price of the child was determined based on the customer's financial situation.

Five Children Rescued: 4 Boys And Girl

After an initial investigation, police revealed that Hira Hospital only housed newborns and children in day care. This gang purchased newborns and children from extremely poor families. Among the five newborns recovered, one was two days old and had been brought from Gwalior. Police said that of the five children rescued from the accused, four were boys and one was a girl.

Network Spread Across Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh

According to police, the accused sold babies born to poor people at the hospital to couples who were childless, specifically those who wanted to adopt children illegally without going through any legal process. The gang then trafficked the newborns and sold them illegally.

The gang members are from various states, including Delhi, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. Among the 12 arrested is the owner of a private hospital.

The five rescued infants have been placed in a safe location and will be presented before the Child Welfare Committee. The Delhi Police are conducting a thorough investigation into the entire network. The search for other suspects is ongoing.
