Activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on a hunger strike since June 27, clarified on Monday that he has not ended his strike and will continue it further.  In a letter shared on his official X account, Wangchuk resolved that he will continue his fast until student leaders protesting the alleged NEET-UG paper leak are allowed to meet Members of Parliament or he is permitted to meet them at the hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

Wangchuk, who is on the 23rd day of his fast, expressed concern over the police action against the protesting students and reiterated his support for their demands.

"I will continue my fast (day 23). Seeing the brutality with which peacefully protesting youth are being dealt with, I have decided to continue my fast until the youth leaders are allowed to meet the Parliamentarians at the Sansad Bhawan, or I am allowed to meet them here at the hospital. Hopefully, the Govt will fix accountability of the Edu minister before that."

Referring to the students' conduct during the ongoing agitation, Wangchuk praised them for maintaining peace despite what he described as provocation.

"I am touched & moved by how the youth have held on to peace despite provocation, and I appeal to the Govt & Police force to resolve the issue by simply allowing the students to present their grievances before the Parliament today or tomorrow. I'm sure the young protesters will show the same patience and tolerance tomorrow as they did today."

The environmentalist and innovator joined the Cockroach Janata Party's (CJP) protest over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak and has been on an indefinite hunger strike. He is currently admitted to Safdarjung Hospital, where he continues his fast while receiving medical care.

Protest March To Parliament Turns Violent

Thousands of protesters on Monday morning had attempted to march towards the Parliament in protest against alleged examination irregularities and for the removal of Education Minister Pradhan.

During the march, clashes occurred between police personnel and protestors, in which a lathi charge and tear gas shelling were done. Around 20-25 government vehicles, including those of police, were damaged by the protestors. Heavy security was deployed outside the Parliament as all the gates were shut down in a precautionary move.

CJP Submits Memorandum To JP Nadda

A 2-member delegation of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) met Union Minister JP Nadda and handed him a letter of their demands, seeking the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In return, the Union Minister requested the CJP to end their sit-in and assured them that he would talk to the appropriate authority in the government regarding their demands.

The CJP delegation, in their letter to Nadda, demanded the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan along with the release of activist Sonam Wangchuk, who, they claim, has been in the captivity of the police, even though he has been admitted to the Safdarjung Hospital. The CJP also demanded that the government announce Rs 1 crore compensation for the children who have died by suicide due to the NEET paper leak.
