Students Protest: Amid the ongoing nationwide protests over paper leaks and other irregularities in the NEET examination, the delegation of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) will hold the third round of talks with the centre on Saturday. Earlier during the first meeting on Friday, the centre agreed to fulfil their two demands. However, it sought time on the demands of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation.
Will Pradhan Resign?
Health Minister JP Nadda, following the meeting on Friday, stated that the CJP presented three key demands and five suggestions to the government regarding reforms in the examination system. Nadda, while talking to the reporters, stated that the government is seriously considering all the suggestions. He further assured that necessary steps are being taken to ensure that the paper does not get leaked in the coming time.
"We have told them that we will meet them again tomorrow afternoon and tell them about the discussion we had among the government," Nadda said.
While talking to the reporters, CJP spokespersons Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das stated that their demand of Pradhan's resignation is non-negotiable. They highlighted that their movement will continue until the education minister resigns, adding that the government must take responsibility for the paper leaks.
Opposition Persists On Demands
However, as per the government sources, Pradhan is not likely to resign in the coming times. The government believes that resignation is not a solution, and concrete steps are being taken to improve the education system, reported Jagran, citing government sources.
Along with the CJP, the opposition has also persisted on the demands of Pradhan's resignation, affecting the proceedings of the parliament amid the ongoing monsoon session. Earlier on Friday, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, asserted that the opposition will take part in the discussion upon Pradhan's resignation.
The centre is planning to form fast-track courts under the new provisions for speedy trials and significantly increase both the jail term and financial penalty for the culprits in the future.
