Amid an ardent campaign by the INDIA Bloc using the Constitution as a symbol of protest, the sale of small coat-pocket versions of the Indian Constitution has gone up. As per a report in The Times of India, the publisher states that 5,000 copies have been sold in the past three months.

During the inaugural session of the 18th Lok Sabha, Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, gathered outside the Parliament House, waving a small, black and red, leather-bound copy of the Constitution of India.

Newly elected Samajwadi Party MPs also flashed copies of the Constitution on the premises of the Parliament. In a show of strength, opposition INDIA bloc members waved copies of the Constitution in Parliament on as Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the oath. Home Minister Amit Shah was greeted similarly.

Former Congress chief, in the backdrop of the Lok Sabha election campaign, religiously carried a copy of the constitution during public meetings and press conferences.

EBC publisher Sumeet Malik claims to have sold 5,000 copies of the book in the past three months, according to a Times of India report. This matches the total number of copies he sold throughout 2023. “The demand is quite high for our coat pocket edition of the Indian Constitution. We are selling out as soon as the fresh stock is received,” TOI quoted Malik as saying.
