A man in Bengaluru has made a shocking claim against his wife that she forced him to convert after their marriage in Karnataka's Gadag district, as per a report by NDTV.

The man identified as Vishal Kumar Gokavi said that he married Tahseen Hosamani in November 2024 after three years of a relationship. Gokavi alleged that Hosamani pressured him to marry again as per Muslim customs, to which he agreed, in a bid to maintain peace.

They again got married as per Muslim customs on April 25 this year. However, he was taken by surprise when he found out that his name was allegedly changed without his knowledge during the marriage ceremony.

He alleged that he was unknowingly converted by a Maulvi during the ceremony. The video of the second marriage as per Muslim customs has gone viral on social media.

Gokavi asserted that his family was preparing for a wedding again with Hindu rituals. At first, Tahseen agreed but later backed off due to her family's pressure, Gokavi claimed.

He also alleged that Tahseen and her family threatened him to either accept Islam or they would file a rape case against him, according to a report by India Today.

India Today quoted Gokavi saying, "I was in love with a Muslim girl. We had been in a relationship for three years. Eventually, her family found out about our relationship. She told me, if you ever get married, it has to be with me. If not, I’ll kill myself by jumping in front of a train, drinking poison, or rolling on the ground. She kept threatening me.".

Gokavi also alleged that Tahseen's uncle Ibrahim Saab Dawal and her mother Begum Banu asked her to convert him and make him attend the Jamaat (Islamic congregation).

"She insisted that we get legally married. Out of fear, I agreed, and we registered our marriage. Later, her uncle Ibrahim Saab Dawal Khan and her mother Begum Banu told her to convert me into their religion and make me attend the Jamaat. She came and conveyed this to me," Gokavi said.

Gokavi further alleged that the pressure to convert didn't come from a single individual but from several people. He said that he was forced to offer namaz. He said, "I was made to take photos while praying and send them to her. She would then follow up by asking if he offered namaz"
