Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condemned the recent deadly attack in New Orleans, labelling it a 'cowardly terrorist attack'. Expressing deep shock and sorrow, the Prime Minister extended his condolences to the victims and their families, emphasising India's unwavering solidarity with the United States in the wake of this tragedy. The attack, which claimed the lives of at least 15 individuals, has sparked international outrage, with world leaders joining in mourning the victims.

"We strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist attack in New Orleans. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. May they find strength and solace as they heal from this tragedy," PM Modi wrote on X.

A US Army veteran, Shamsud Din Jabbar, drove a pickup truck into a crowd of New Year's revellers in New Orleans on Wednesday, killing at least 15 people and injuring dozens. The FBI has classified the attack as ‘an act of terrorism’ and revealed that Jabbar had an ISIS flag and suspected explosive devices in his vehicle. The truck was rented through the car-rental platform Turo. The FBI also stated that Jabbar was not believed to be ‘solely responsible’ for the attack.

Biden Condemns 'Despicable' New Orleans Attack Linked To ISIS

Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old US citizen from Texas and former military IT specialist, was identified as the attacker. He was killed by police after exiting his truck and opening fire on responding officers.

Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick called Shamsud-Din Jabbar a "terrorist", while the FBI confirmed finding an ISIS flag in his vehicle. President Joe Biden condemned the attack as 'despicable' and revealed that Jabbar had posted online videos expressing ISIS inspiration before the incident.

Biden also mentioned that authorities were investigating potential links between this attack and a subsequent explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck near a Trump hotel in Las Vegas, which resulted in one death, though no connections have been established yet.
