Tamil Nadu Floods: North Tamil Nadu's Villupuram district is still experiencing unusual levels of flooding due to the impact of cyclone Fengal. Chief Minister M K Stalin visited the area on Monday, spoke with residents, and gave them aid.
Hundreds of passengers were impacted when all train services via Villupuram were temporarily suspended. A railway official announced that services would resume as soon as conditions improved, provided that safety regulations were followed.
The traffic on the important Chennai-Tiruchirappalli national highway in and around Villupuram was also disrupted.
According to the India Meteorological Department, on Monday, the depression, the remnants of cyclonic storm Fengal over north coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, was reduced to a Well-Marked Low-Pressure Area.
The town of Villupuram and adjacent towns and villages bore the brunt of the rainstorm as roaring floodwaters poured toward low-lying areas. As pieces of a bridge were swept away, many villages around Aarani in Tiruvannamalai district lost access.

Train Services Affected
Southern Railway announced on Monday morning that it would suspend operations in the vital area between Vikravandi and Mundiyampakkam in Villupuram due to water levels above the danger level. This will result in the cancellation, diversion, and temporary termination of services, including express and superfast trains.
Villupuram's excellent connectivity makes it simple to travel between the central and southern regions of Tamil Nadu, Chennai, and other northern sections of the state. Agriculture Minister MRK Panneerselvam visited the severely damaged northern coastal town of Cuddalore, where the River Thenpennai is overflowing.
