Dawood Ibrahim News: Hours after the reports of hospitalisation of Underworld don Dawood Ibrahim surfaced on the Internet, fresh developments from Pakistani media suggest their varcity. Though initially refused by Dawood's right-hand man, Chhota Shakeel, now many media channels and senior journalists are claiming that India's most wanted fugitive terrorist is hospitalised in critical condition in a Karachi medical facility.
Here is what we know so far about Dawood Ibrahim's poisoning
1. A senior journalist from the neighbouring country, Arzoo Kazmi has claimed that internet services have been down in the country, fueling further speculations on Dawood's health. According to a TOI report, Dawood is currently occupying a full floor of a high-end Karachi hospital. No one except doctors or immediate family members is allowed to meet him.
2. Arzoo has further remarked that the internet and social media shutdown in Pakistan has made it difficult to verify the news. Kazmi also mentioned that there is no confirmation regarding the identity of those responsible for the alleged poisoning, and it is impossible to verify the status of Dawood Ibrahim, whether he is alive or dead.
3. According to an India Today report, Mumbai Police is trying to verify the news of Dawood's hospitalisation through sources, primarily from his relatives Alishah Parkar and Sajid Wagle.
4. Ibrahim's nephew, Alishah Parkar, earlier this year, told National Investigation Agency (NIA) that the underworld don had remarried in Pakistan. He had also claimed that Dawood is living with his new wife Maizabin, and his children, reported MoneyControl.
5. According to an NBT report, a senior officer who monitors underworld activities said on Monday morning that this news is fake. He has neither been poisoned nor admitted to the hospital. Some other officials from the Mumbai Police have also not confirmed this news. Most officers say they have no idea about it.
Dawood is believed to be the mastermind behind the March 1993 bombings in Bombay. In 2003, both the Indian and United States governments designated Ibrahim as a 'Global Terrorist.' Presently, Ibrahim is listed as one of the 'most wanted' criminals in India.
