Dehradun-Mussoorie Traffic: The serene hill station of Mussoorie, once a haven for tourists seeking solace in nature, has turned into a nightmare for visitors. The scenic 35-km stretch from Dehradun to Mussoorie takes an excruciating three hours to traverse by car, a time frame similar to travelling from Delhi-Noida to Dehradun.

The woes are attributed to the damage caused by the disaster on the Mussoorie route, which is plagued by frequent traffic jams. Despite efforts by the administration and police, tourists are left fuming as they spend hours stuck in traffic. Travelling from Mussoorie to Dehradun is no better, with an additional hour added to the journey, making it a gruelling four hours.

If you're planning a trip to Mussoorie, be prepared to be stuck in traffic. The situation is likely to test the patience of even the most seasoned traveller.

Poor Traffic Management, Damaged Roads Causes Severe Gridlock

The scenic town was marred by gridlock and congestion due to damaged roads and poor traffic management.

The situation was particularly dire on the Dehradun-Mussoorie highway, where vehicles were crawling at a snail's pace, with some stretches taking over an hour to cover just a few kilometers. The congestion was not limited to the highway, with traffic jams reported in various parts of the town, including Company Garden, Bhatta Falls, Gun Hill, and Lal Tibba.

The chaos was compounded by the fact that the state transport buses have been suspended due to the damage caused by recent landslides, forcing tourists to rely on private vehicles and taxis. This has resulted in a significant increase in traffic volume, leading to long jams and delays.

Tourists, who had been eagerly looking forward to a relaxing weekend getaway, were left frustrated and disappointed by the traffic mayhem. Many were stuck in traffic for hours, while others had to abandon their plans to visit popular attractions due to the congestion.

Dehradun-Haridwar Highway Faces Traffic Congestion

The traffic congestion was not limited to Mussoorie, with the Dehradun-Haridwar highway also experiencing significant delays. The four-kilometre stretch from Jogi Wala to Rispana Bridge and Ajabpur Flyover was particularly congested, with vehicles taking over an hour to cover the distance.

The authorities have been criticised for their handling of the situation, with many calling for better traffic management and infrastructure development to support the growing number of tourists visiting the hill station. As the tourist season continues, it remains to be seen whether the authorities can improve the situation and provide a more pleasant experience for visitors.
