Delhi's Air Pollution remained near the 'severe' category for the third consecutive day on Tuesday. The average AQI of the national capital was recorded at 358, and several places of the national capital including Mundka, Bawana, and Wazirpur among others were recorded at over 400, i.e. in the 'severe' category. Besides the air pollution, toxic foam was seen floating on Yamuna's surface.

Amid the rising pollution levels that have plagued the national Capital, sections of the Yamuna River, particularly around Kalindi Kunj, were seen covered in thick, frothy foam, leaving both environmentalists and Chhath Puja devotees concerned.

Delhi Air Pollution: Environment Minister Gopal Rai Chairs Meeting

On Tuesday, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai chaired a meeting with concerned departments on the issue of rising pollution levels in the national capital.

Rai also pitched for a united effort in North Indian states to mitigate pollution, while accusing BJP governments in neighbouring states of doing 'politics' over air pollution.

"In Centre, UP, Haryana and Rajasthan, there are BJP governments. They don't know how to do something other than politics. All the governments of the Northern States will have to work together. The Delhi government is working day and night and the BJP government is sitting silently. This gap needs to be filled," Gopal Rai told ANI.
