Delhi's Air Quality Continues To Be 'Very Poor' As Dense Fog Engulfs Capital; IMD Issues Orange Alert

Delhi AQI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the temperature of Delhi is likely to significantly drop in the upcoming days. The weather department stated that the residents are set to witness dense fog and a cold wave, especially in the morning hours. As per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi remained in the 'very poor' category on Saturday. The department further stated that the air quality is not likely to improve in the upcoming days. The visibility has dipped severely due to the dense fog, leading to the cancellation of train and flight services. The health department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

Delhi: Air Quality In 'Very Poor' Category

As per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital was recorded at 380 at 6 AM on Saturday. While the AQI of Anand Vihar was recorded at 428 (severe), the AQI of Bawana remained at 365 (very poor).

Apart from this, the AQI of Delhi Airport was recorded at 321 (very poor) and Rohini's AQI remained at 415 (severe). The air quality is not likely to improve in the upcoming days; however, the condition is expected to get slightly better from the first week of January.

Delhi To Witness Dense Fog, Cold Wave

The national capital is likely to witness a cold wave and dense fog for the next few days, leading to inconveniences. The lowered visibility is set to trouble the commuters and is also likely to affect the flight and train services. “Dense to very dense fog is expected to form at several places across the city in the early hours of Saturday. At night, a shallow fog or mist might be observed,” an IMD official was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.
