A four-storey building collapsed in Delhi’s Mustafabad early Saturday, killing 11 and injuring 11. Rescue teams worked over 12 hours. Authorities suspect ground-floor construction triggered the collapse. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ordered a probe. Locals voiced concerns about similar risks in nearby buildings, citing poor structural conditions.

Construction work in "two or three shops" on the ground floor may have contributed to the building's collapse, according to the police. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has ordered an investigation into the incident and expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy.
Locals said that ongoing construction at a newly opened shop may have played a role in the collapse.
They also raised alarm over the poor condition of several nearby structures, with concerns specifically about four to five buildings they believe are in a similarly fragile state. "It felt like an earthquake. The floor shook beneath us and before we could understand anything, everything was covered in dust," said Shiv Vihar local Ryan who lives next to the building that collapsed in northeast Delhi on Saturday morning.
Sehjhad Ahmad lost his two nephews, Danish and Naved, who were living with their parents on the third floor of the collapsed building. "Both my nephews were the breadwinners of the family. They ran the entire household. Now they are gone," he said. His sister and brother-in-law are in critical condition. "I got a call around 4 am and rushed to the site as soon as I heard," he added.
Sonu Abbas, a local resident, shared that he lost his sister, who lived with her family on the building's fourth floor. Speaking to PTI, he said she was alive when pulled from the debris. “She got up, saw her husband and children were safe, helped them out, then collapsed and passed away,” he recounted.
Both her children have injuries while her husband remains in critical condition, he added.
