Delhi Bus Gang-Rape Case: A gang-rape case, in which a 30-year-old married woman returning home from work in northwest Delhi's Mangolpuri area was allegedly dragged on a private sleeper bus and gang-raped by the driver and conductor, created a huge outrage in the national capital. Police arrested the accused hours after they received a PCR call.

Big Twist In The Case

As the probe progressed, according to Jagran.com sources, the police found that the matter is not as straightforward as it looks. In fact, it reportedly appeared that there was some financial dispute that led the woman to accuse the arrested men of raping her inside a bus. After the twist, police were probing other angles in the gang rape that reminded the infamous 2012 Nirbhaya case.

The Delhi Police have registered a case, arrested the accused individuals, and remanded them to judicial custody. The police have stated that the victim herself made the PCR call using one of the accused's mobile phones. Consequently, viewing the case as suspicious, the police are currently conducting an investigation.

How Did The Case Initially Come To Light?

A case of gang rape on a bus was reported in the Nangloi area of West Delhi. The driver and the conductor of a private bus allegedly gang-raped a woman inside the vehicle.

Acting on the victim's complaint, the police registered a case and arrested both accused individuals. The police have also seized the bus. A case has been registered against both accused persons at the Rani Bagh Police Station under Sections 64(1), 70(1), and 3(5) of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita).

The arrests took place the following day of the complaint. Recapping the events of the night, the woman was returning home after working at a factory in the Mangolpuri area. In her statement, the woman said when she reached near the B-Block bus stand in Saraswati Vihar, she saw a man standing near the bus door and asked him the time. He then allegedly dragged her inside the bus and drove the vehicle towards Nangloi and raped her, it added. According to the statement of the woman, who is married and has three children, both men raped her in turn. The bus was stationed near the Nangloi Metro Station while the woman was attacked.
