A sinister incident unfolded in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, where a father allegedly involved his minor son in the murder of a long-term rival, strategically planning the attack, a day before his son’s 18th birthday, to exploit the juvenile laws.
The police were alerted about the incident through a PCR call received at the Malviya Nagar Police Station. According to the police, the victim, identified as 56-year-old Lakhpat Singh, is a property dealer and was attacked during his morning walk at Vijay Mandal Park around 6.30 AM on Friday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan stated that Singh was initially attacked with a cricket bat before being shot with a country-made pistol, the Hindustan Times reported. He was taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. A case was registered at Malviya Nagar Police Station under Sections 103(1)/3(5) of the BNS and Sections 25/27 of the Arms Act.

Property Feud Suspected To Be Motive
The accused, Khushi Ram, and the victim, Lakhpat Singh, were allegedly caught in a property feud since 2016, which is suspected to be the main motive for the murder. Back then, Singh had allegedly assaulted Khushi Ram and left him bedridden for nine months.
In the aftermath of the incident, both sides filed multiple cases. However, the animosity between both sides prevailed. Officers investigating the case said that the accused confirmed that the property dispute from the past was the main reason for the murder. The father and son had been keeping a tab on the whereabouts of Singh.
Investigators have recovered a broken bat and a Hero black splendor without a number plate, caught on a CCTV camera from outside the park, from the possession of the accused. The country-made pistol, used during the murder, is so far missing.
The teenager was arrested on Saturday, while the father was apprehended later. Investigations are underway as the police are searching for the missing piece of evidence from the crime.
